The clothes on this page comprise items I saw in pictures and liked so much I decided I would try to make them. For me, once I have proven to myself I can do something, I lose all interest in it. So, I have all these sweaters, most of which I have never worn, that I felt proud to be able to make. Pertinent information is listed next to each item. This is the first item I made after I taught myself to knit early in 2003. I was thrilled with it! It is the simple stockinette stitch with the occasional cable thrown in. It was made of cotton yarn using size 8 needles, so it has some pills on it already (from washing to block it). When I tried it on, it didn't fit because it had shrunk! It now has a chest measuring 40 inches, but it will shrink again if you put it in the dryer. If you hang it to dry and block it, it should keep its current size. The sleeves are 9 inches long, and it is 18 inches from the top of the neck rib to the bottom of the rib waist. This short sweater is $50.

This is one of the many crocheted blouses/sweaters I have made since I taught myself to crochet many years ago. It was something new because I needed a double-point crochet hook to work the reversible rib. I loved the ribbing once I figured out how to do it. It is a simple single crochet and double crochet pattern. It is made of acrylic thread so it shouldn't shrink. It measures 46 inches around the chest. The sleeves are 5 inches long, and it is 21 inches from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the rib. The bottom rib is 3 inches long, and the sleeve rib is 1½ inches. This summer blouse is $50.

This is one of my crocheted sweaters. It is made in the filet crochet style with the picture of a rose in the front. It was made in two pieces and put together with a design at the shoulder seams that goes down the sleeves, which bunch to the wrist opening; therefore, the sleeves are puffy. It is made of acrylic yarn and measures 46 inches around the chest. The sleeves are 9 inches long, and it is 22 inches from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the rib. It has a button closure in the back at the top of a 3-inch opening. This puffy-sleeved sweater is $75.

This knit sweater is the simple stockinette stitch with a design in the middle of the front and sleeves. The back is solid stockinette stitch. The pattern I used also has a sleeve-less version, which I haven't made yet. It was made with stretch acrylic yarn using size 10 needles and measures 42 inches around the chest. The sleeves are 9 inches long, and it measures 22 inches from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the waist rib. This summer sweater is $75.

This is one of my crocheted sweaters. I saw the picture of it in the book and adored it. I went to my box of yarn and discovered I had everything I needed to begin it right away! So, I did. It is double crochet with the pattern all across the bottom and up the middle of the front of the sweater and across the sleeves. The back has the design around the bottom but then is plain brown up to the neckline. It is 52 inches across the chest and 26 inches from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the waist rib. The sleeves are 8½ inches long but attached in such a way that they hang down 11 inches from the shoulder. This summer sweater is $150.

This is one of my crocheted blouses. It was made in the filet crochet style with little flowers throughout and an open filet in the front near the neck. The white stripe is only in the front. It is made of acrylic thread and measures 45 inches around the chest. The sleeves are 3 inches long, and it is 21 inches from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the waist rib. The sleeves are turned back as part of the design, but you can unroll them. Then the sleeves are about 5 inches long. This summer blouse is $50.
